Here is a collection of some sun dog or sundog photographs. I also added in a couple of Glory photographs. Sun Dogs are also known as mock suns or parhelia photography. Sundogs are caused by the refraction of sunlight passing through ice crystals and appear at roughly 22° on both sides of the sun at the same elevation. Glory or Glories photographs were taken while in flight. Glories are formed when light is scattered backwards by individual water droplets.
